Uju Ugoka is a talented Nigerian basketball player born on May 24, 1993, in Lagos, Nigeria. She stands at an impressive 6’1″ and plays as a forward or center. Here’s a brief overview of her career:
Early Career Highlights:
- Ugoka was scouted at the Hope for Girls Basketball Camp, organized by Mobolaji Akiode, a former Fordham standout and Nigerian national team player.
- She played college basketball at Grayson College, Gulf Coast State College, and Virginia Tech, where she earned All-ACC Second Team honors in 2013-2014.
Professional Career:
- Ugoka started her professional career with Pallacanestro Vigarano in Italy (2014-2015), averaging 18.2 points, 11.4 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game.
- She has played for several teams, including:
– Basket Parma (Italy, 2015-2016): averaged 16 points, 14.1 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game.
– AZS-UMCS Lublin (Poland, 2016-2018): averaged 12.6 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game.

Beyond advocacy to a large pool community residents, pragmatic incentivization (through the construction of a basketball court) will create a paradigm in the inclusion of sports – particularly, the basketball game- as a propitious platform for a sustainable community development, with a future precedent for other communities in Africa.
